Just Choux

It was just choux pastry for me this weekend. It's quite unlike me to bake one item for a weekend only. Heehee... It was because I was out the whole Saturday morning, out on Sunday too! Therefore, I only made some chocolate cream puffs this week. The choux pastries were made on Friday evening, and the cream and chocolate ganache on Saturday. I also made caramelised walnuts to top the chocolate cream puffs.

The recipe for Choux pastry was from Fresh from the Oven and the chocolate cream from my banana cupcakes. The caramelised walnuts were made melting sugars in the pot and throwing in the walnuts. Then they were crushed and topped onto the cream puffs.

Hi Grace,
Thanks. That was taken from far, so it looks good. But actually, my family told me it's "tasteless"! Hahaha...Can you believe something like that can be tasteless? It was because I didn't add sugar to the chocolate cream fillings, so it made the cream puffs tasteless! Do you still want a piece? :p How about we exchange? You give me a piece of your French Apple Tart & I give you a few pieces of the Chocolate Cream Puffs?

Haha Jane! I really hope that we can do the exchange kekeke... Anyway, for healthy purposes, that's good some desserts feel tasteless. That's why we want homemade right?! Well done!

Hi Grace,
You're so comforting!! But my family don't think so! They expect such cream puffs to at least taste sweet! Actually, there's no excuse for me also, I don't usually test my foods! Hahaha... I don't even know they are tasteless until I tried it after they feedback! Oops!

hi i came across your blog on Choux.. I also made choux buns recently. coffee cream and chocolate cream. i add icing sugar to the filling so its just alright. you might wanan try :)

However my choux wasnt successful.. it was so hollow till i couldnt slit into half to put filling. i just use 2 choux to sandwich the filling together :P

Hi Missy,
Thanks for your suggestion. Coffee cream sounds yummy! :p I did add icing sugar to the whipping cream. But the portion was like 10% only, plus I added cocoa powder, so the sweetness wasn't there.
Your choux was hollow, that was really perfect! What I did was overturn the puff, and piped the cream in. I didn't slice the puff into half too! A bit of work, but looks nicer too! ;)
