Pantry Magic + Shermay's = 1 Happy Girl!

I signed up for Chef Jocelyn's Decorated Christmas Cookies 2008 at Shermay's today. I was very happy to know that Pantry Magic is also along the same stretch of block in Chip Bee Gardens.

I have always wanted to go to Pantry Magic to check out their kitchen tools, but just didn't have the right opportunity to go. So it was my opportunity today since I'll be at Shermay's. I requested my hubby to bring me there much earlier so that I can go to Pantry Magic to browse. These were what I bought from Pantry Magic.

This was my first time at Shermay's. The place is actually pretty small. The environment and the people who attended the demo was quite different from Creative Culinaire. It seems that the people in Shermay's are more "up market", that they go for quality stuff & don't mind to pay. Shermay's also served drinks throughout the demo, with a break in between. It was, well, quite a different experience.

Chef Jocelyn is very friendly and shares her experience quite readily. She is really nice in person too. She really decorates very beautiful cookies! What a lady! These are samples of what she had done.

These were given to us after the class.

I personally find Shermay's class a bit pricey. Well, I guess I learnt different things in different schools, so I can't really compare. In the end, I can't help but to buy some of these stuffs from Shermay's. ;p

Although these stuffs that I bought from both places are pretty expensive, but I'm very happy with my purchases! Buying baking tools is therapeutic for me! ;)

Hi Jane,
I'm sure you have a great time at Shermay's class. By the way, how much you bought for the vanilla extract?

Hi Grace,
The vanilla extract I bought from Shermay's is $29.95. There are various kinds, they also have vanilla paste. I've tried their orange & coffee extract and they are really good. So I bought the vanilla extract yesterday.

wanna check with you..the silicone spatula you bought..is it silicone from top to bottom or just on top only. the handle is plastic? be careful if its plastic, may burn and melt if you use it with hot sauces. Coz my friend bought a similar one..it melted thru and spoil her choux pastry dough she was cooking in a pot. :(

Hi Gina,
The silicon spatula is only on top only as what you said. Thanks for your reminder. I didn't think that the handle was only plastic. :(

if it melts, just throw away the food. don't attempt to save it or eat it. This is how you can get melamine food poisoning. make sure the silicone ware you buy must be FDA tested.

Thanks Gina! I definitely won't keep the food if it is being contaminated! Ok, I'll check for the FDA logo if I'm buying any silicone wares in future!
